Lines and shapes

Lines and shapes help format your document: draw a line for a signature, add a frame around text, or place a colored background behind a heading.

Available shapes

In the Insert → Shapes menu, the following are available:

  • Line — for example, for a signature or date;
  • Rectangle;
  • Rounded rectangle;
  • Circle.

The shape will appear on the page. Drag it into place and resize it as needed.

How to customize the appearance

Select a shape — the Shape item will appear in the top menu, and customization buttons will appear on the toolbar:

  • Fill — the color inside the shape;
  • Border style, Border thickness, and Border color — a solid, dashed, dotted, or double line up to 6 pixels thick;
  • Opacity — so the shape doesn't completely cover the text;
  • Corner radius — for a rounded rectangle. You can round all corners at once or each one individually.

You can quickly rotate a line: the context menu has an option to Make vertical or Make horizontal.

Background shape behind text

Added a colored rectangle and it covered the text? Right-click it and select "Send to back".
